Program Note: The Star-Spangled Banner was requested by a local high school marching band that was seeking a new arrangement of the familiar tune. This version incorporates elements from Stravinsky's and Rachmaninoff's versions in addition to original harmony/orchestration changes by the composer. Though conceived for marching band, Theisen's Star-Spangled Banner works just as well in a concert band situation.
