Lacrimosum and Benedictus (2007)
Instrumentation: SATB chorus a cappella (SAT for Benedictus)
Duration: ca. 4'
Movements:
- Lacrimosum
- Benedictus
Program Note: Lacrimosum and Benedictus was written in 2007 as an exercise in late-16th-century contrapuntal style. Lacrimosum sets an anonymous 12th-century French text in a chromatic, declamatory manner much in the spirit of Gesualdo. The Benedictus provides a contrast to the preceding movement (though scored for only SAT, basses are more than welcome to join the tenors).
