Program Note: This piece was commissioned by Dr. James Smisek and dedicated to the 2009 Samford University Honor Band. The Samford University Wind Ensemble performed the composition later under the same conductor. Allegro Capriccioso is as its title implies - very capricious, whimsical, and episodic with an overall mood of mischievous humor. The musical material develops in unexpected ways and is sometimes interrupted by unrelated ideas.
